Niklas Grass, Germany (Class of 0)

"I have had a huge interest in the dual degree program since I took my first extracurriculars in WHS during my Bachelor's degree in Architecture at BTU. While I was unfortunately not able to officially enrol in my Master's in 2021, I had the opportunity to exchange with many WHS and CHMS students during the Winter Semester 21/22, introducing me to the great benefits both programs combine.

I was always in awe of the courses provided through the heritage dual degree, both at BTU and at Deakin University. I enjoyed the practically-oriented study projects at both universities. The project "heritage in the field" remains one of my biggest highlights throughout this degree, where we were asked by the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) to provide a public program for the Old Melbourne Gaol as well as an adjacent report that reviewed the adaptive reuse with recommendations based on best practice in heritage conservation and interpretation.

I look back fondly on all the new connections with heritage practitioners and emerging professionals I made at BTU and at Deakin, as well as the people I met during the ICOMOS GA 2023 in Sydney and its surrounding events. If you are interested in the broader scale of heritage and how and where it is presented, this degree might be the very best for you — it certainly has been for me!"
