Research Fellow Position at Deakin University

  • Melbourne Burwood Campus or Geelong Waterfront Campus
  • Full-time (36.75 hours per week) and fixed term for one year with possibility of extension for 2 additional years
  • Level B, $100,837 - $119,266 plus superannuation

The Research Fellow will make an outstanding contribution to the ARC Discovery Indigenous project: 'Barriers and pathways to development of Indigenous traditional medicines' through conducting fieldwork in the Kimberley region related to the use of the mudjala plant, a traditional medicine.
 

Your key responsibilities will include, and not limited to:
 

  • Provide an excellent contribution to the project goals including developing agreements with research partners, research design, data collection, analysis, drafting publications, and dissemination of findings
  • contribute to policy and practice
  • exhibit and/or publish high quality research in national and international scholarly journals of high repute
  • contribute to the achievement of the Institute’s strategic goals in research, engagement and innovation
  • develop strong relationships with research, community, industry and government for enhanced research outcomes

To be successful, you will have:
 

  • PhD in Anthropology or a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience
  • emerging research and scholarship through publications
  • ability to conduct research independently
  • capacity to contribute to research and administration
  • excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
  • knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues.
